Vendor Watch
New Healthcare Automation parent reports healthy quarter.
Mediware Information Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:
MEDW), a provider of healthcare software for blood, medication and performance management, reported total revenue for the second quarter of the 2010 fiscal year of $10.8M, an 8% increase over the $10M reported in the comparable quarter in fiscal 2009. Net income for the quarter increased to $783,000, or 10 cents per fully diluted share, a 158% increase over the $303,000, or 4 cents per fully diluted share, reported in the comparable quarter in fiscal 2009. The quarter represented the sixth consecutive quarter of earnings and revenue growth for Mediware.
Mediware completed the acquisitions of
Healthcare Automation, Inc. and
Advantage Reimbursement, Inc. during the quarter. The two Rhode Island companies accounted for about 20 days of the new parent's 4th quarter results. "The addition of HAI strengthens our solution capabilities in alternate care environments, including home infusion, specialty pharmacy and home health," declared Mediware president and chief executive officer Thomas Mann. "Advantage Reimbursement, which provides dedicated billing and reimbursement expertise, is an attractive add-on service for our current customers and can also be sold outside our customer base."
Re-promise - coming next week:
We know. This interview should have appeared this week. The agency, however, happens to be located in northern Virginia. If you live anywhere from St. Louis to Boston, or if you watch TV weather reports, you know very few Virginians made it to work last week. Those who did were a little busy to chat with reporters. So, in time for our next issue, assuming another "SnowMageddon" does not hit the greater DC area, VW will present:
An interview with an agency administrator who recently heard a state surveyor say, "I like how easy it is to locate patient information in your software." and "Your visits are well-documented because of the format of your forms." and "I have never gotten through a visit so fast." Find out next week who the lucky agency is and what software system it uses.
